Working Together To Support Communities

Cheshire & Warrington Infrastructure Partnership

The four infrastructure support charities from across Cheshire & Warrington came together to form a collective, the Cheshire & Warrington Infrastructure Partnership (CWIP). This partnership works across the region to coordinate support for the Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise Sector, sharing best-practice and resources, and assisting with the growth and development of community-focused organisations as they deal with the many changes and challenges of the last few years.

CWIP is focused on driving positive change by connecting the vast VCFSE sector to the rest of our region. We aim to support these groups – many integral to our communities - to collectively influence decision-making and help them to deliver what they do – in communities that are:

  • Seemingly poor and seemingly wealthy

  • Suffering from obvious health issues and those with the less obvious issues

  • Well-resourced with community spaces and those less well resourced

  • In need of additional support – for whatever person

  • Are communities of place and communities of interest.

We do this by:

  • Offering solutions to some of the most challenging issues facing our region

  • Driving community-centred approaches to transform health and well-being

  • Providing a single point of contact for the VCFSE sector

  • Working with statutory regional bodies to steer resource deployment within the levelling-up agenda of the government. We do not adopt a political standpoint

The partnership currently consists of the following organisations:

  • Cheshire Community Action

  • Cheshire West Voluntary Action

  • CVS Cheshire East

  • Warrington Voluntary Action

Administrative support for the Partnership is provided by Voluntary Sector North West (VSNW), the regional voluntary sector network for Northwest England. VSNW provide similar support elsewhere in the Northwest, enabling cross-fertilisation of ideas and government (national, regional and local) policy awareness.

FYI. Infrastructure support charities are those that support Voluntary and Community Groups and also Social Enterprises. They are nothing to do with road building; railways or anything on the list found here.
